New IEEE Hybrid Journal and Magazine Titles Coming in 2026

Each year, IEEE introduces new publications to address growing areas of research that transform our lives. These new publications provide important new opportunities to enable researchers around the world to share their latest research in these fields with the scholarly community and for IEEE Xplore users to learn more about these technologies. In 2026, IEEE will introduce new publications covering technologies such as AI and computational intelligence, wireless power, robotics, sensors, and more. Coverage of all of these technologies can be found in current and forthcoming publications from IEEE. Listed below are the new hybrid titles coming soon from IEEE in 2026. All of the titles listed below are hybrid titles that offer both open access publishing options as well as traditional subscription-based publishing options for authors that may not have access to APC funding.

IEEE Computational Intelligence Letters

IEEE Computational Intelligence Letters is an archival publication designed to provide rapid dissemination of original short articles focused on Computational Intelligence, being the theory, design, application, and development of nature and brain-inspired computational paradigms. The journal welcomes original research, reviews, and case studies that advance Computational Intelligence.

IEEE Journal on Wireless Power Technologies

The IEEE Journal on Wireless Power Technologies is a multi-disciplinary publication promoting the latest developments in wireless power technologies with an emphasis on hardware implementation.

IEEE Robotics and Automation Practice

The IEEE Robotics and Automation Practice (RAP) seeks to publish results whose value to the practitioner is clear. Articles can include algorithms, code, methodologies, and designs that demonstrate either improvements over the state of the art or a new practical application. Empirical studies, in-depth case studies, and other experimental works that contribute to the body of knowledge in the practice of robotics and automation are also considered. Finally, articles that report on trends and developments that have impact are welcome. All application domains as described in the scope of the journals sponsored by the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) are acceptable.

IEEE Sensors Magazine

The IEEE Sensors Magazine publishes tutorial-style articles on research and applications, as well as columns on issues of interest in the field of scope of the IEEE Sensors Council, i.e., the theory, design, fabrication, manufacturing and application of devices for sensing and transducing physical, chemical, and biological phenomena, with the emphasis on electronics, physics and reliability aspects of sensors and integrated sensor-actuators. The magazine also publishes news, such as information about market issues and industrial developments.

IEEE Transactions on Robot Learning

IEEE Transactions on Robot Learning (T-RL) publishes fundamental advances in development and use of Artificial intelligence (AI) methods that address challenges specific to robotic and automation systems, incorporating the constraints and opportunities present in physical systems, and tackling key barriers to the full deployment of AI in a robot from perception to control, including human and societal factors. Emphasis is placed on methods that facilitate benchmark generation and reproducibility.

Tip: IEEE Xplore users who are signed in with their personal IEEE Account can choose to receive notification of recently published and recently cited content, including a direct link to the table of contents for the latest issue of a journal or magazine. Sign-up for an alert to be notified when the first issue of these new publications are published.

About IEEE Institutional OA Agreements

Your institution has an OA publishing agreement with IEEE that makes it easier and more convenient for authors to publish open access. This type of agreement often includes a number of pre-paid article processing charges (APCs) to allow researchers to publish open access in eligible titles. Some institutional agreements have internal processes approving the use of APCs or limitations on the number of APCs available or the type of journals they can be used in. Please speak to your University Librarian or Open Access Administrator for more details and to check availability. Additional information can be found above regarding your institution’s OA agreement.
