CEFET-MG

CEFET-MG is a century-old educational institution, with its origins in Decree No. 7,566, signed by President Nilo Peçanha on September 23, 1909, and began offering Higher Education in 1978.

In the 1980s, CEFET-MG reached an agreement with Loughborough University of Technology on a Technical Cooperation Agreement, with support from CAPES and the British Council, to facilitate a master’s program to further the training of faculty members, allowing CEFET-MG to offer undergraduate courses other than Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. The result of the project was the Master’s Program in Technology, which already had its own faculty and laboratory infrastructure in 1991.

In 2013, CEFET-MG was already offering seven master’s programs, as well as a doctoral program.

The CEFET-MG, through the national contract between CAPES and IEEE has an unlimited open access agreement with IEEE that enables researchers to publish articles as open access without open access fees in all IEEE fully and hybrid open access journals. The agreement applies to all original research articles accepted for publication between 5 November 2024 – 30 October 2027. To benefit from this agreement, the corresponding author has to be affiliated with CEFET-MG. Please use the correct institution name and your institutional email address during submission. It is recommended for authors to select the CC BY 4.0 license. The open access funding request will be approved by an OA administrator at CAPES. Overlength page charges or color fees are not covered by the agreement and will be charged to authors.

About IEEE Institutional OA Agreements

Your institution has an OA publishing agreement with IEEE that makes it easier and more convenient for authors to publish open access. This type of agreement often includes a number of pre-paid article processing charges (APCs) to allow researchers to publish open access in eligible titles. Some institutional agreements have internal processes approving the use of APCs or limitations on the number of APCs available or the type of journals they can be used in. Please speak to your University Librarian or Open Access Administrator for more details and to check availability. Additional information can be found above regarding your institution’s OA agreement.
