IFFLUMINENSE
The history of the Fluminense Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology (IFFluminense) began at the beginning of the last century, with Nilo Peçanha, the then President of the Republic, who created, through Decree No. 7,566, of September 23, 1909, the Schools of Apprentice Craftsmen, with the purpose of educating and providing job opportunities for young people from the less favored classes. The federal government, through Law No. 11,892, of December 29, 2008, published in the Official Gazette of December 30, 2008, instituted the Federal Network of Professional, Scientific and Technological Education and created the Fluminense Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology. Nowadays, in the territorialization movement, the Fluminense Federal Institute is located in 12 municipalities with a spatial network that reaches 12 campuses, an Innovation Hub, a Reference Center in Technology, Information and Communication in Education, a Training Unit in Cordeiro and the Rectory, bringing together more than 15 thousand students and 1,500 active employees, including Professors and Technical-administrative staff in Education (data extracted from the IFF Transparency Panel, in February 2023).
