Lancaster University is an internationally highly-ranked leader in the provision of inspiring teaching and research. The University is committed to ensuring that the outputs of research are made readily available to anyone who would benefit from them. To make the CC BY license available as quickly as possible under the Route 2 option, IEEE has developed a process that engages authors during their online publication agreement where they may identify themselves as an author with UKRI funding. Upon completion of the copyright agreement, UKRI funded authors will automatically obtain a permission to apply the CC BY license to their accepted manuscript. About IEEE Institutional OA Agreements

Your institution has an OA publishing agreement with IEEE that makes it easier and more convenient for authors to publish open access. This type of agreement often includes a number of pre-paid article processing charges (APCs) to allow researchers to publish open access in eligible titles. Some institutional agreements have internal processes approving the use of APCs or limitations on the number of APCs available or the type of journals they can be used in. Please speak to your University Librarian or Open Access Administrator for more details and to check availability. Additional information can be found above regarding your institution’s OA agreement.
