The University of Vale do Paraíba – Univap, recognized by the MEC in 1992, is a non-profit community institution for teaching, research and extension. The history of Univap began in 1954, with the creation of the Vale do Paraíba Law School. Later, other schools emerged as a result of the needs of the region, especially in São José dos Campos, which was experiencing rapid growth with the arrival of numerous industries. Today, the University offers more than 30 undergraduate courses in various areas of knowledge, administered by the Schools of Law, Health Sciences, Engineering, Architecture and Urbanism, Education and Arts, and Applied Social Sciences and Communication. As a University, it also offers Continuing Education and Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Studies, with four Master’s and three Doctorate programs.

The Universidad do Vale do Paraíba (UNIVAP), through the national contract between CAPES and IEEE has an unlimited open access agreement with IEEE that enables researchers to publish articles as open access without open access fees in all IEEE fully and hybrid open access journals. The agreement applies to all original research articles accepted for publication between 5 November 2024 – 30 October 2027. To benefit from this agreement, the corresponding author has to be affiliated with Universidad do Vale do Paraíba (UNIVAP). Please use the correct institution name and your institutional email address during submi​​ssion. It is recommended for authors to select the CC BY 4.0 license. The open access funding request will be approved by an OA administrator at CAPES. Overlength page charges or color fees are not covered by the agreement and will be charged to authors.
