Universidade Católica de Pernambuco (UNICAP)
Born in the heart of the Church in downtown Recife, the Catholic University of Pernambuco, UNICAP, began as the Manoel da Nóbrega School of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters on April 18, 1943, and was formally established as a university on September 27, 1951, through the aggregation of pre-existing units. Such modest origins did not prevent its growth.
The Catholic University of Pernambuco was not born from a government decree: it is the fruit of an educational project of the Church and the Society of Jesus that excited those who dreamed of it in the past, led it for seven decades and currently compose it.
