UNAERP – University of Ribeirão Preto was the first higher education institution in the Ribeirão Preto region. Founded on June 1, 1924 as the Ribeirão Preto Pharmacy and Dentistry School Society by a group of idealistic health professionals, intellectuals and educators, since its inception its objective was to promote the social, educational and cultural development of the then rich coffee capital, today the main sugar and alcohol hub in the country. From that visionary initial project, UNAERP’s trajectory expanded significantly from the end of the 1950s, when Professor Electro Bonini (1913 – 2011) took over its administration.

The Universidade de Ribeirão Preto (UNAERP), through the national contract between CAPES and IEEE has an unlimited open access agreement with IEEE that enables researchers to publish articles as open access without open access fees in all IEEE fully and hybrid open access journals. The agreement applies to all original research articles accepted for publication between 5 November 2024 – 30 October 2027. To benefit from this agreement, the corresponding author has to be affiliated with Universidade de Ribeirão Preto (UNAERP). The open access funding request will be approved by an OA administrator at CAPES. Overlength page charges or color fees are not covered by the agreement and will be charged to authors.
