Founded in 1961, the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL), a federal higher education institution, is located on the A.C. Simões Campus in Maceió, and on two additional campuses in the interior of the state: the Arapiraca Campus and its units in Viçosa, Penedo, and Palmeira dos Índios, and the Sertão Campus, headquartered in Delmiro Gouveia, with a unit in Santana do Ipanema.
Around 26,000 students are enrolled in 84 undergraduate programs, distributed across 23 Academic Units: 53 in the capital city, and the Arapiraca (19) and Sertão (8) campuses. In the graduate program, 39 strictu sensu programs are offered, including 30 master’s degrees and nine doctoral degrees, with 2,312 students, and 13 specializations. Distance learning offers 4,000 undergraduate students.
The Universidade Federal de Alagoas (UFAL), through the national contract between CAPES and IEEE has an unlimited open access agreement with IEEE that enables researchers to publish articles as open access without open access fees in all IEEE fully and hybrid open access journals. The agreement applies to all original research articles accepted for publication between 5 November 2024 – 30 October 2027. To benefit from this agreement, the corresponding author has to be affiliated with Universidade Federal de Alagoas (UFAL). Please use the correct institution name and your institutional email address during submission. It is recommended for authors to select the CC BY 4.0 license. The open access funding request will be approved by an OA administrator at CAPES. Overlength page charges or color fees are not covered by the agreement and will be charged to authors.
