The Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP) was established on August 21, 1969, with the merger of the centuries-old and traditional School of Pharmacy and School of Mines. Over the years, it has grown and expanded its physical space, gaining new courses, faculty, and staff. Today, UFOP offers 51 undergraduate programs, 47 in-person and four online. Graduate programs include 24 academic master’s programs and eight professional programs, 15 doctoral programs, and 10 specializations. In total, it has over 11,000 students, approximately 800 administrative technicians, and approximately 900 faculty members, including tenured and substitute faculty.

UFOP strives to bring the 21st century to a city over 300 years old. At the same time, its preservation agenda is reinforced through projects such as the Stonework Workshop, which restores important historical monuments, and the Arts Forum, which promotes reflection on art and heritage. The Museum of Science and Technology, the Museum of Pharmacy and the Astronomical Observatory are important centers for the preservation of memory and culture, which hold a legacy of knowledge for society.

About IEEE Institutional OA Agreements

Your institution has an OA publishing agreement with IEEE that makes it easier and more convenient for authors to publish open access. This type of agreement often includes a number of pre-paid article processing charges (APCs) to allow researchers to publish open access in eligible titles. Some institutional agreements have internal processes approving the use of APCs or limitations on the number of APCs available or the type of journals they can be used in. Please speak to your University Librarian or Open Access Administrator for more details and to check availability. Additional information can be found above regarding your institution’s OA agreement.
