Universidade Federal de Sergipe (UFS)
The higher education in the state of Sergipe was started in 1920, becoming operational in 1950 with the creation of the Faculdade de Ciências Econômicas de Sergipe and de Química, the Faculdade de Direito and the Faculdade Católica de Filosofia in 1951. In 1954 the Escola was created of Social Services and in 1961 at the Faculty of Medical Sciences. With this number of higher schools it was possible to sue the creation of a University in Sergipe. Through Lei n. 1,194 of July 11, 1963, the Government of the State of Sergipe, authorizes the transfer of two existing Higher Education Establishments in the State to the Fundação Universidade Federal de Sergipe, now in the organization of the Federal Government. Four years later, it was established at the Fundação Universidade Federal de Sergipe, on February 28, 1967, by Decree-Law No. 269 and installed on May 15, 1968,[10] with the incorporation of 06 Higher Schools or Faculties that minister 10 courses administered by five faculties and five institutes.
The Universidade Federal de Sergipe (UFS), through the national contract between CAPES and IEEE has an unlimited open access agreement with IEEE that enables researchers to publish articles as open access without open access fees in all IEEE fully and hybrid open access journals. The agreement applies to all original research articles accepted for publication between 5 November 2024 – 30 October 2027. To benefit from this agreement, the corresponding author has to be affiliated with Universidade Federal de Sergipe (UFS). The open access funding request will be approved by an OA administrator at CAPES. Overlength page charges or color fees are not covered by the agreement and will be charged to authors.
