The Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU) is a public foundation, member of the Indireta Federal Administration, linked to the Ministry of Education (MEC). The institution, still called the University of Uberlândia (UnU), was authorized to operate by Decree-Law No. 762, of August 14, 1969, and federalized by Law n. 6,532, of May 24, 1978. With seven camps – four in Uberlândia (MG), one in Ituiutaba (MG), one in Monte Carmelo (MG) and one in Patos de Minas (MG) -, a UFU is the main reference center in science and technology of a wide region of Central Brazil, which encompasses o Triângulo Mineiro, o Alto Paranaíba, o northwest and northern parts of Minas, o south and southwest of Goiás, o north of São Paulo and east of Mato Grosso do Sul and do Mato Grosso.

The Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (UFU), through the national contract between CAPES and IEEE has an unlimited open access agreement with IEEE that enables researchers to publish articles as open access without open access fees in all IEEE fully and hybrid open access journals. The agreement applies to all original research articles accepted for publication between 5 November 2024 – 30 October 2027. To benefit from this agreement, the corresponding author has to be affiliated with Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (UFU). Please use the correct institution name and your institutional email address during submi​​ssion. It is recommended for authors to select the CC BY 4.0 license. The open access funding request will be approved by an OA administrator at CAPES. Overlength page charges or color fees are not covered by the agreement and will be charged to authors.
