Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA)
Created on July 2, 1957, the University of Pará is the result of the union of seven faculties whose histories date back to the beginning of the 20th century: the Free Faculty of Law (1902), the School of Pharmacy (1903), the Free School of Dentistry of Pará (1914), the School of Medicine of Pará (1919), the School of Engineering of Pará (1931), the School of Economics, Accounting and Actuarial Sciences (1947) and the School of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of Belém (1948). In the 1960s, the University incorporated the School of Industrial Chemistry of Pará (1920) and the School of Social Service of Pará (1950) and became known as the Federal University of Pará. UFPA offers 154 undergraduate courses (in-person or distance learning) in 82 cities in Pará. It has a population of over 50,000 undergraduate, graduate, and basic, technical, and technological education students. It houses the School of Application, the School of Music, and the School of Theater and Dance, as well as 2 University Hospitals, a veterinary hospital, several clinics and laboratories, a Theater, a Museum, an Art Gallery, and numerous community service facilities.
The Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA), through the national contract between CAPES and IEEE has an unlimited open access agreement with IEEE that enables researchers to publish articles as open access without open access fees in all IEEE fully and hybrid open access journals. The agreement applies to all original research articles accepted for publication between 5 November 2024 – 30 October 2027. To benefit from this agreement, the corresponding author has to be affiliated with Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA). Please use the correct institution name and your institutional email address during submission. It is recommended for authors to select the CC BY 4.0 license. The open access funding request will be approved by an OA administrator at CAPES. Overlength page charges or color fees are not covered by the agreement and will be charged to authors.
