The Minas Gerais Foundation for Education and Culture, a private, non-profit legal entity created and managed by professors, celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. It maintains FUMEC University, a higher education institution located in the city of Belo Horizonte, capital of the state of Minas Gerais. Its first name was Aliança University, in the constitutive act dated December 20, 1963, through organic law 3.043. In 1966, it was named Presidente Kennedy Foundation, through law 4.124 of 03/31/66. In 1967, it changed to Minas Gerais University Foundation, law 4.675, of 12/06/67.And in 1973, it became known as the Minas Gerais Foundation for Education and Culture – FUMEC. Teaching activities began with the Faculties of Business Sciences – FACE and Engineering and Architecture – FEA. Later, it expanded its scope of operations with the creation of the Faculty of Human Sciences – FCH. In 2004, it earned the title of University and today stands out in several educational rankings in the country; training influential leaders with national and international reach.

The Universidade FUMEC, through the national contract between CAPES and IEEE has an unlimited open access agreement with IEEE that enables researchers to publish articles as open access without open access fees in all IEEE fully and hybrid open access journals. The agreement applies to all original research articles accepted for publication between 5 November 2024 – 30 October 2027. To benefit from this agreement, the corresponding author has to be affiliated with Universidade FUMEC. Please use the correct institution name and your institutional email address during submi​​ssion. It is recommended for authors to select the CC BY 4.0 license. The open access funding request will be approved by an OA administrator at CAPES. Overlength page charges or color fees are not covered by the agreement and will be charged to authors.

About IEEE Institutional OA Agreements

Your institution has an OA publishing agreement with IEEE that makes it easier and more convenient for authors to publish open access. This type of agreement often includes a number of pre-paid article processing charges (APCs) to allow researchers to publish open access in eligible titles.
