Universidade Regional de Blumenau (FURB)

It is the first college in the interior of the state of Santa Catarina and was created in 1964, as a result of a community movement, to make access to higher education more inclusive. This is an objective that the Regional University of Blumenau continues to pursue throughout its history and has been achieved by more than 40,000 professionals who have graduated from FURB. On February 13, 1986, by Ministerial Decree No. 117, the Higher Education maintained by FURB was recognized and accredited by the Ministry of Education as a University.

Since March 19, 2010, through Municipal Complementary Law No. 743, FURB has been a municipal autonomous entity under a special regime, possessing full didactic-scientific, administrative, and financial and patrimonial management autonomy, as regulated by its Statute, in accordance with Article 207 of the Federal Constitution.

The Universidade Regional de Blumenau (FURB), through the national contract between CAPES and IEEE has an unlimited open access agreement with IEEE that enables researchers to publish articles as open access without open access fees in all IEEE fully and hybrid open access journals. The agreement applies to all original research articles accepted for publication between 5 November 2024 – 30 October 2027. To benefit from this agreement, the corresponding author has to be affiliated with Universidade Regional de Blumenau (FURB). Please use the correct institution name and your institutional email address during submi​​ssion. It is recommended for authors to select the CC BY 4.0 license. The open access funding request will be approved by an OA administrator at CAPES. Overlength page charges or color fees are not covered by the agreement and will be charged to authors.
