The University of Fribourg encompasses five faculties where people study, teach and research. These are Arts and Humanities, Science and Medicine, Management, Economics and Social Sciences, Law and Theology. As well as these there are numerous interdisciplinary institutes and centres of excellence. The approximately 10,000 students in the Bachelor, Masters and PhD programs receive first-class personal support from over 800 professors, lecturers and research assistants.

The Consortium of Swiss Academic Libraries (CSAL) has an agreement with IEEE that enables researchers to publish articles without open access fees (APCs) in all IEEE fully Open Access journals, hybrid journals are not included. The agreement applies to all articles accepted for publication between 1.1.2022 and 31.12.2024. To benefit from this agreement, the corresponding author has to be affiliated with one of the participating institutions. Overlength page charges or color fees are not covered by the agreement and will be charged to authors.

About IEEE Institutional OA Agreements

Your institution has an OA publishing agreement with IEEE that makes it easier and more convenient for authors to publish open access. This type of agreement often includes a number of pre-paid article processing charges (APCs) to allow researchers to publish open access in eligible titles. Some institutional agreements have internal processes approving the use of APCs or limitations on the number of APCs available or the type of journals they can be used in.
