University of Žilina (UNIZA) with 70 years of history belongs to one of the leading educational and scientific institutions in Slovakia. With its rich tradition, it occupies a significant place among Slovak universities. It has seven faculties: the Faculty of Operation and Economics of Transport and Communications, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, the Faculty of Civil Engineering, the Faculty of Security Engineering, Faculty of Management Science and Informatics, the Faculty of Humanities. The university also has the following workplaces: the University Science Park, the Research Centre, the Institute of High Mountain Biology, the Institute of Physical Education, the Institute of Forensic Research and Education, the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies, the Institute of Continuing Education and the Institute of Competitiveness and Innovations, the Aviation Training and Education Centre and the University Library.

In the field of science and research, the University participates in 200 national and 50 international scientific and research projects and organises about 60 scientific and professional events annually. Results of scientific and research activities of the University have an important influence on not only the educational activities but also on the development of international cooperation or interconnection with practice.

UNIZA is open in describing new horizons in scientific education and research.

The Transformative Agreement between IEEE and Slovak CVTI Consortium provides access to more than 100 scientific journals for the consortium of 7 Slovak academic institutions.

This agreement will ensure that corresponding authors affiliated with participating institutions are eligible to publish their articles open access with fees covered in hybrid and OA journals across the IEEE portfolio.

About IEEE Institutional OA Agreements

Your institution has an OA publishing agreement with IEEE that makes it easier and more convenient for authors to publish open access. This type of agreement often includes a number of pre-paid article processing charges (APCs) to allow researchers to publish open access in eligible titles. Some institutional agreements have internal processes approving the use of APCs or limitations on the number of APCs available or the type of journals they can be used in.
