Supported by article processing charges (APCs), its hallmarks are rapid peer review, a submission-to-publication time of 4 to 6 weeks, and articles that are freely available to all readers.

IEEE Access was included in the 2024 Journal Citation Reports™ (JCR)† and received:

  • a Journal Impact Factor™ of 3.6 *Impact factor = citations in 2024 to articles published in 2022 and 2023/articles published in 2022 and 2023
  • an Eigenfactor® Score of 0.34597 *Measured by counting the total number of citations a journal receives over a five-year period
  • an Article Influence® Score of 0.670 *This is a journal-specific Eigenfactor score. It is calculated by dividing the Eigenfactor score of the journal by the number of articles published. It tells the average impact of an article published in a journal from a five-year period after the publication of the article.
  • an Immediacy Index of 0.8 *Immediacy index = citations in 2024 to articles published in 2024

IEEE Access was also included in the 2024 Scopus citation data† and received:

  • a CiteScore™ of 9.0  *2024 CiteScore counts the citations received in 2021-2024 to articles, reviews, conference papers, book chapters and data papers published in 2021-2024, and divides this by the number of publications published in 2021-2024.
  • a SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) of 0.849 *SJR measures weighted citations received by the journal. Citation weighting depends on subject field and prestige (SJR) of the citing journal.

About IEEE Institutional OA Agreements

Your institution has an OA publishing agreement with IEEE that makes it easier and more convenient for authors to publish open access. This type of agreement often includes a number of pre-paid article processing charges (APCs) to allow researchers to publish open access in eligible titles. Some institutional agreements have internal processes approving the use of APCs or limitations on the number of APCs available or the type of journals they can be used in.
